Oh Boulder - I signed up for Ironman Boulder today. During a meeting. Good thing there was wi-fi or I’d had to leave. I’m not sure how fast the race sold out but it was closed by this evening. My bet is it was fast. I pushed the button and got in right when it opened at 11 a.m.
This all for a race that doesn’t happen until Aug. 3… of next year.
Yes, the endurance athletic events are popular but Boulder has special standing. It’s home to many professional triathletes and cyclists as well as many, many top amateurs. It’s quite possible I’ll be near last.
On the other hand, maybe none of those top amateurs will show up because the possibility of qualifying for Kona is next to nothing.
Nah, all those Colorado crunchies will want to be there.
It’s the first time they’ve held this event in this form.
Many things to worry about. Mountain, altitude, housing.
But that can wait. I have to finish my first IM first.
Boulder is a year away. See you in 2014.
