Upcoming rides

Here’s a bunch of details on upcoming rides, some of which I mention in my Sunday column, which you haven’t seen yet, unless it’s Sunday when you read this in which case I”m sure you probably have because I’m sure that’s the first thing you read when you pick up the Sunday paper or drop in here at argusleader.com.

Anyway, here’s the stuff, courtesy of FAB President Mark Emry:

Hey FABsters!

May was bike month, but June is busting out all over (sorry for the old song reference)! There are so many bike activities coming up and we’re all very busy, so I wanted to highlight some of them for you.

June 19 is the Healthy Community Design Summit. Please see the attached flyer. This would be a great opportunity to make YOUR voice heard.

June 21 is the next Moonlight Madness ride. We’re starting at Fawick Park this year, 8:00 pm. Wear your helmet on your head and a light for the front and rear of your bike. If you’ve never ridden the bike trail at night, you’re in for a treat.

June 22 is the first Books and Bikes ride of the summer.  This is a fun, family-safe ride (see short)  on the bike trail starting at 10:00 am at Pasley Park riding to the Riverfront Amphitheater. See the attached poster for more details. I hear there is a gift at the end for participants! FAB is a sponsor of this event and there will be two more Books and Bikes rides this summer. Support your club and the Siouxland Libraries!!

June 28 I’ve heard rumblings of a unsponsored pub crawl, “Tour Brew Falls” that will start at Monks at 7:30 and visit some local pubs. You’re on your own for this one friends. Wear a helmet, lights, and your best judgment ;-) You should be able to find thE kErnEl there.

June 29 & 30 Tour Sioux Falls You’ve heard about this event and it’s almost here. I won’t list the details in this email, but you can find them and register at http://www.toursiouxfalls.com/ I hope to see you ALL on the trail sometime Saturday morning(ish).

A couple of items of interest to FAB:

·         Saturday Morning 8:00 am we’ll have a club ride starting at the Sanford Fieldhouse and taking the road to Baltic and back. Just a nice leisurely group ride, led by Gene Noble. Club rules are to be followed. Non-club members are welcome and we’ll have waivers for them to sign there. Scott Roggenbuck has also told me the facilities at the fieldhouse will be open for us!! FAB will also be present with the City and Wellmark at the booth in Falls Park J

·         IMPORTANT! ON SUNDAY JUNE 30, ok, I’ll stop yelling. We (your FAB board, the city, the Sports Authority & the Argus Leader) want everyone to wear their FAB jersey (new, old, whatever) during the Cyclovia event from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. You are Sioux Falls’ bike ambassadors. Please register as Activity staff at the following link (click the Activities Staff checkbox and put in your tshirt size): http://sfsportsauthority.org/how-to-get-involved/voluteer/volunteer-job-description-tour-sioux-falls/volunteer-registration-form-tour-sioux-falls/

Show up at the Farmer’s Market in Falls Park for a root beer float from noon to 1:00 (must be wearing FAB gear and be registered or have volunteered AND be wearing your FAB gear to get the free root beer float).

Help promote cycling in Sioux Falls by participating in this event!

July 6 FABRAD. Same great ride as last year. Can we have over 150 riders this year??? Let’s make it happen!!! We’ll get out more on this year’s ride soon (like pint-sized glasses for SWAG this year). You can register for it here: http://www.active.com/cycling/sioux-falls-sd/fabrad-2013
